Your role and responsibilities

In this role, you will have the opportunity to act as the technical lead for all engineering activities in assignments. Each day, you will ensure the activities related to all engineering disciplines within the project are executed in an efficient and cost-effective manner. You will also showcase your expertise by acting as a design authority for a particular engineering discipline and completing the corresponding engineering assignments.

This role is contributing to the Process Automation Energy Industries in Malaysia.
You will be mainly accountable for:
• Ensuring that engineering is developed with complete information - all multidisciplinary information has been included in the engineering development. Evaluating, selecting, and adapting standard techniques, procedures, and criteria to perform tasks for challenges.
• Working with customers at strategic or senior levels to shape and delivering leading edge solutions/processes, seeking feedback and innovating with the customer to drive and deliver improvements, meet customer needs, and developing long term relationship
• Interacting with public officials, consortium partners, contractors, suppliers, and others. Finalizing ‘Fail-Safe Philosophy’ and other key concepts as part of Kick-Off and Design Freeze Meetings. Actively participates in project meetings and resolves any outstanding technical issues to meet contractual obligations.
• Serving as a specialist in the application of advanced concepts and methods. Collaborating and networking with engineering colleagues within ABB and externally. Sharing best practice across different projects and disciplines.
• Leading, supervising, and coordinating teams in all disciplines (both in-house and outsourced) on projects of medium to high complexity. Leading single or multi-discipline engineering teams with 5 - 10 resources
• Reviewing and developing standard processes, tools, and techniques. Ensuring that engineering activities comply with required safety regulations and contractual requirements.
• Anticipating and solving crucial issues and/or unique conditions. Evaluating risks and opportunities, strategizes mitigation of one’s engineering projects/programs. Supporting the Project Manager in overall project risk and opportunity assessments, and implementation of resulting actions
• Defining project tasks and ensuring allocation of these tasks among project team members. Defining schedule, cost, and quality metrics. Coordinating the creation of work plans and cost estimates in all applicable engineering disciplines.

Qualifications for the role

  • A Degree in Electrical & Electronics Engineering or other equivalent engineering with more than 15 years of hands-on engineering and commissioning experience in Chemical, specialty chemical, Petro-chemical projects using Integrated control system (ICSS).
  • Thorough understanding of petrochemical process with specialization in applications and solutions for integrated process control.
  • Minium of 5 years’ experience with ISA S88 & S95 architecture, batch standards, batch design, production management or scheduling and batch management programming
  • Knowledge on Procedural Model (i.e., recipe, unit etc.) & physical Model (i.e., Equipment, Control Modules etc.).
  • Minium of 5 years’ experience of development in recipe management and procedures as applicable to batch production process.
  • Hands on Experience with SQL or Oracle Data base along with Batch reporting knowledge is preferable. Knowledge on 800XA/Symphony Harmony platform preferred.
  • Basic knowledge on Virtualization, Networking & Cyber security preferred.
  • Proficient with MS Word, Excel, MS access, Power Point, MS Visio, MS projects and ACAD.
