This position reports to

R&D Department Lead

Your role and responsibilities

In this role, you will have the opportunity to contribute to ABB’s success with technology, software, product, and system development. Each day, you will identify and implement innovative solutions to relevant problems. You will also showcase your expertise by providing ideas and by being able to work both independently and as a part of a Research & Development (R&D) team.
You will be mainly accountable for:
• Analyze ABB sensor technology and build know how of current sensor design and manufacture.
• Benchmark sensors in the market to understand the Pros and Cons
• Generate ideas for next generation sensors and implement them into the sensor design, testing and production setup.
• Improve ABB current sensors for quality and reliability
• Work with electronic engineer and algorithm engineer for optimizing the sensor, understanding the sensor behavior in different application (high temperature, high pressure, high humidity, etc…)
• Design of tests and test setups to verify the sensor design in Lab before release
• Investigate the material property and select best fit material for ABB sensor.

Qualifications for the role

• Strong physics background in sensor technology
• Good experimental skills on measurement setup
• Material (glue, rubber etc) application knowledge is required
• Familiar with electromagnetic field / flow simulation tools ANSYS, COMSOL etc. for both modelling and simulation will be a plus.
• Strong Piezo knowledge will be a great plus.
• Sensor research and hands-on experience
• Education: Ph.D
• Major: Physics Engineering, Sensor technology or Electronic System
• Fluent oral and written English
• The passion for technology and engineering, how things work
• Strong analytic and problem-solving skills. Prefer to working on problems
• The ability to work in groups and be self-motivated
• The ability to be an effective contributor when working in multi-cultural teams with oversea colleagues.
