ABBs Energy Transition Study Team spearheads the energy transition by defining sustainable and optimal solutions for our customers H2/P2X, offshore wind, renewable integration and electrification projects. We are seeking curious and energized members to enrich our diverse team!
As a Study Lead/Technical Consultant you will be responsible for technical studies and consultancy directly impacting the realization of some of the world’s most complex energy projects. You will be heading up project teams of experts, leveraging ABB’s huge capacity and expertise in electrical-, automation-, telecom- and digital solutions. You will work in the intersection between engineering & project execution, solutions & tech development, business development and sales, everyday exposed to the challenges and opportunities the energy industry is faced with, and with the means to do your part in solving them.
Some of your main responsibilities will be, but are not limited to:
• Contribute to identifying and defining technical challenges and opportunities for our customers, and scoping feasibility and concept studies to address these.
• Lead studies and consulting assignments designing forward-looking solutions guiding the customers projects from feasibility phase through to FEED and final investment decisions.
• Be a key advisor on systems and technologies that are key for the energy transition, such as hydrogen production, offshore wind, renewable integration, externally as well as across the ABB organization.
• Support ABB front end sales and marketing teams in customer and project sales pursuits.
• Involve, collaborate and work across ABB operational functions, disciplines, and product experts.
• Initiate, inspire and participate knowledge sharing within the team, provide support and direction for junior team members.
• External networking and collaboration with industry peers.
Qualifications for the role
- Experience in project engineering and design developments from all phases of large projects, with a particular passion for the feasibility, concept development and select phases.
- Technical insight in electrical, controls, chemical, and/or systems engineering disciplines.
- Entrepreneurial spirit and positive attitude. You are excelling when you get to attack new challenges, exploring solutions and solving the task with ingenuity.
- Domain expertise in renewable energy systems, such as wind, solar, hydrogen, battery systems, microgrids and energy management is an advantage for this position.
- Systems thinking mindset, and preferably experience in applying systems engineering methodology.
- Proven track record in leading technical teams and ability to collaborate across domains (multidisciplinary). Typically gained in a role as engineering manager or lead engineer.
- Excellent communication skills to convey results in a simple and understandable way both orally and in writing.
- Keen interest and understanding of the energy market changes due to the energy transition and new technologies.
- Commercial awareness with experience in performing techno economical evaluations.
- MSc in relevant engineering discipline.
