Your role and responsibilities

In this role, you will represents ABB in managing and developing the operation of the Local Product Group for Traction Motors. Responsible for the Profit and Loss account (P&L) and accountable for delivering results as per targets, cost effectively, with quality and competitiveness (Care, Customer, Cost, Cash). Builds and develops the company, management team and staff into a customer driven and high-performance operations. The work model for the role is: Onsite This role is contributing to the Motion Traction Division in Vadodara, Gujarat. In this role you will be reporting to Local Division Manager - Traction. You will be mainly accountable for: • Ensures Operating Unit’s compliance with the company’s safety, integrity, and quality policies. • Implements the business strategy of the Product Group, and ensures business development in the operating unit, with full responsibility for profit and loss (P&L). • Ensures profitable business growth through development of performance targets and ensures achievement through regular oversight and definition of improvement actions as needed. • Responsible to execute a customer-focused Operations strategy derived from the overall business and functional strategy developed for the Product Group. • Oversees production facilities within the Operating Unit and ensures plans to achieve targets are implemented. • Improves manufacturing technology and competence in line with the strategy. • Drives productivity, delivery performance and cost optimization. • Oversees execution of high-quality products, services and processes. • Monitors quality metrics, identifies opportunities for improvement in local execution, and oversees improvement activities. • Maintains relationships with customers and other external contacts as appropriate. • Drive performance management and organizational development initiatives pertaining to assigned organizational area by driving People and Culture. • Accountable for continuous improvement of business process and procedures, and for overall customer satisfaction for the area under scope. Shares functional best practices and lessons learned across the organization. This role is graded at GGS 11.

Qualifications for the role

• Management / Operation Qualification relevant to role (Engineer degree preferred) with 15+ years of experience.
• Ability to lead and inspire a team and build a culture of a systematic approach to quality and process improvements.
• Strategic thinking and acting, general management attributes, with P&L experience and with operation leadership experience.
• Fluency in English, knowledge of Hindi and/or Gujarati is a plus.
• Demonstrated process improvement with focus on Productivity and Quality Systems.
• Demonstrated setting up manufacturing lines for new products in relevant Industry.
• Experience in working on projects with teams spread out globally is a plus.
