Could you be the full-time onsite Aftermarket Obsolescence Electrical Engineer in Naperville, IL, US we’re looking for?


Your future role

Take on a new challenge and apply your comprehensive electrical engineering expertise in a new cutting-edge field. You’ll work alongside innovative, dedicated, and collaborative teammates. You'll play a pivotal role in managing and preempting obsolescence for our Aftermarket Customers. Day-to-day, you’ll work closely with teams across the business (including Rolling Stock Engineering, Project Management, and Supply Chain), coordinate with vendors for compliance with customer requirements, and much more.

We’ll look to you for:

  • System Risk Assessment based on Engineering Knowledge, Alstom Procedures, and Design Authority Input,

  • Familiarity with IPC, Maintenance Manuals, etc., for tracking and input into Obsolescence Management tools,

  • Obsolescence Management - Assessment of Design Mitigation, Risk Assessment, Solutions, and Escalations via Alstom Global Procedures,

  • Obsolescence Solutions ( Reverse engineering, Repair, New Design, Supplier Partnership, Circular Economy, Make-to-print, etc ) to meet FFF specifications and requirements. You will provide assembly/repair instructions, and new designs drawings, develop all the required documentation, create or update engineering change orders, and review vendor technical proposals to ensure compliance to specifications and product safety.

  • Degree in Railway Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or Electronics Engineering or equivalent,

  • A minimum of 5 years of Experience in rail industry standards and design,

  • Knowledge of rolling stock systems and components,

  • Familiarity with safety management systems and safety risk assessment,

  • Your knowledge and experience in Project Management will be a strong asset.
