Position Summary

The System Validation Engineer will be responsible for the definition, planning and execution of validation activities for Electric Vehicle Drive Unit projects, from Proof of Concept to Product Validation.

Main opportunities and challenges:

He/She will have the opportunity to

1) work with different company Business Units and also with external suppliers,

2) to manage different working teams and

3) to successfully validate the product and ensure all pre-

defined requirements are met.

Main Responsibilities

  • He/She will be responsible for defining the validation plan for each project phase, definition of the

test procedures (according to test standard, customer needs and engineering need).

  • He/She will work in cooperation with the Chief Engineer and all other System Engineers in order to ensure that

the design conforms to all customer requirements, internal requirements and specifications.

  • He/She will lead and coordinate the experimental activities in collaboration with Testing Engineers and

Technicians from the test laboratory including but not limited to defining test sample pedigree, resources needs,
test bench allocation and support external supplier relationship.

  • He/She will generate structured test reports for each validation plan and will be responsible for reporting results

to the customer as well as internal stakeholders.

  • He/She will proactively identify and help to manage risks and opportunities, monitor progress and support the

definition of countermeasures in case of test failure or significant deviation from product requirements.

  • He/She will ensure the timely achievement of project milestones within the defined budget through the defined

Product Development Design Review Process.

Job Position Requirements

Education: University Master Degree in Electric, mechanical or mechatronics engineering or similar

Professional background: 3+ years’ experience in similar role as system engineering functions for complex system, etc. in automotive (or Tier 2) or aeronautic companies. Experience in E-drive system development and verification or testing.

Hard Skills

Essential:

  • Have clear understanding of the technical specifications, both mechanical and electrical/electronics, to ensure test designs and deliverables comply with the product requirements.
  • Knowledge of automotive product development processes.
  • Experience on test-bench or vehicle based testing activities.
  • Knowledge of datalog (CANape) and postprocessing (Matlab) tools.
  • Knowledge of Root Cause Analysis techniques.
  • Fluent English - written, verbal and presentation skills required.
  • Experience in powertrain or driveline development of system and/or components (eDrive preferred, transmission, active differential, )

Considered as a Plus:

  • Ability to use Vector CANape, vCDM, ETAS INCA

Soft Skills

  • Strong interpersonal skills to work with people at all levels within and outside Dana in a professional manner.
  • Ability to multi-task effectively on projects and assignments
  • Ability to work effectively under pressure to meet deadlines and goals.
  • A team player, who is both flexible and creative in their approach to problem-solving.
