Ready for your next step? In this role, you will have the opportunity to work as an integral member of the Glencore Canada Procurement team. You will develop sourcing strategies, oversee contract negotiations, and finalize MRO supply agreements for Glencore’s operations.

Reporting to the Manager of Sourcing, Glencore Canada Procurement, you will make a significant contribution in maintaining the companies’ cost of MRO products and services by delivering cost savings and process improvements. This will be achieved by utilizing best practice approaches in procurement such as volume leveraging, dynamic bidding, direct negotiations with manufacturers and distributors and developing strategic relationships where required.

More specifically, you will:

  • Oversee the strategic sourcing process for a signficant MRO portfolio. Working across the Canadian business units to leverage spend, you will plan and prioritize the number of value-added sourcing initiatives to work on with a focus on improving the velocity of projects to ensure that the operations' interests are in balance with the maximum benefit available to Glencore.
  • Working within a center led-decentralized procurement team, the Category Lead will work with procurement management in the various businesses and demonstrate a clear understanding of their relationships and requirements and have a solid knowledge of policies and procedures within the businesses such as the Delegation of Authority (DOA), the Tender and Procure to Pay (P2P) guidelines.
  • Work with the unique Glencore operations and effectively maintain site requirements ensuring that value generation is the end result of each sourcing initiative.
  • Provide strategic direction, sourcing advice and support to the operations for important MRO procurement initiatives.
  • Assist the Manager in meeting objectives including the adoption of improvement tools and programs that promote procurement efficiencies; ensureing tendering and negotiation processes are aligned with our policies and procedures.
  • Provide support to the operations on key operational initiatives as necessary.
  • Work across multiple business units, operating sites and various managment levels within and outside the organization.
  • Require initiative, commitment, and leaderships skills to impact the various operations.
  • Lead multifunctional strategic sourcing teams for the goods and services in your portfolio.
  • Be the company expert in the MRO goods and services.
  • Share and communicate contract information, market reports, and identify new opportunities to key stakeholders.
  • Assess potential suppliers according to selection criteria.
  • Establish Supplier Relationship Management programs for key suppliers within your portfolio in conjunction with site procurement and operations teams.
  • Coordinate activities such as workshops and technology forums across the organization.

Do you have what it takes?

  • Ability to maintain good relationships with Business Service Managers (Site Controllers), Site Procurement Leaders, operational stakeholders and members of various purchasing and materials management groups across the organization.
  • Communicate at various levels within the organization from the shop floor to leadership level.
  • Develop and maintain key supplier relationships for MRO goods and services.
  • Establish contacts in relevant MRO industries.
  • Participate in procurement associations, establish value added networks.
  • 5-7 years’ experience in strategic sourcing processes.
  • A comprehensive knowledge of/experience in the MRO industry is an asset.
  • Bachelor’s or college degree in business, supply chain management or related field.
  • Ability to work with, manage, cleanse, and analyze large volumes of content.
  • Strong operations, maintenance, logistics, engineering or procurement background.
  • Experience leading, maintaining and influencing significant change as a result of implementation of new solutions.
  • A pronounced understanding of the marketplace for the MRO goods and services used in our industry to deliver cost effective solutions to our operations.
  • Ability to utilize various technology tools to complete analysis.

  • A working knowledge of French and English

Working Conditions:
Travel will be required to be successful in meeting the requirements of this role.
