Director, Government relations and public affairs
Reporting to the Vice-President and Chief Business Development Officer, you will be primarily responsible for implementing a public affairs and government relations strategy to support the financing, growth and expansion of Lithion both domestically and in the United States, Europe and elsewhere in the world.
To this end, you will initially represent Lithion in Quebec and Canada and will be our main point of contact with governments, ministries, associations and groups. In the medium term, you will also be responsible for defining and recommending strategic actions in government relations to support Lithion's growth in the United States and Europe. To do this, you will build your team of collaborators and participate with them in the execution of strategies allowing Lithion to achieve these growth and development objectives. You will work in a constantly changing political, legislative and regulatory context.
Main responsibilities:
• Create a comprehensive program to introduce the company and its activities to governments, and build relationships with them;
• Establish and develop relationships with associations, institutions, provincial and federal organizations, chambers of commerce, according to the issues and challenges of the company;
• Identify development opportunities and negotiate partnership agreements with government agencies;
• Monitor public policies relating to the company's strategic objectives and activities;
• Read regulations, revise them, make recommendations, initiate discussions;
• Analyze the public affairs environment to influence the strategic decisions of the companies and our partners;
• Act as the main contact person for questions relating to government relations;
• Participate in cross-functional projects and collaborate with the different departments;
• Perform other related tasks.
Skills and profile sought:
• Degree required: Bachelor's degree in law, political science, communication or a related field;
• Experience: 7 to 10 years in the field of public and government affairs;
• Having a network of contacts at the various levels of government: an asset;
• Knowledge and mastery of public affairs issues (economic, political, governmental and regulatory) both provincially and federally;
• Experience in obtaining government financial assistance and tax credits;
• Excellent interpersonal skills and sense of diplomacy;
• Excellent communication skills (oral and written: presentation, document writing, meeting facilitation, etc.);
• Excellent computer skills (MS Office, Excel and PowerPoint);
• Travel to be expected;
• Synthesis and result-oriented mindset;
• Great autonomy coupled with ease of communication with the various departments;
• Bilingual English/French (oral and written).
Position based in Anjou (QC), in hybrid mode.
